Lynn and Andrea Simons met, as one can imagine, through their involvement in the horse world. Andrea's entire family was involved in the APHA. Her father, Jay is a past president of the APHA, her mother Nancy served on many committees and provided 40 years of service to the Board of Directors. Andrea's brothers, Daniel and Joe showed extensively as youth and amateur exhibitors. Lynn was raised in northwest Iowa in a farming family but always had a passion for horses. Lynn was given an opportunity to work for the late RB Shield of Saginaw, TX. It was then, while attending Texas Christian University that Lynn was given a full introduction in to the APHA.
Lynn and Andrea were married shortly after and established Simons Show Horses in Aubrey, TX. Lynn specialized in halter horses and Andrea in performance horses. Through the years, Lynn and Andrea, along with their clients, enjoyed immense success in the show pen. The Simons family continued to influence the industry through many great stallions such as Jetalito, First Class and Hot Scotch Man and in 1993 Zippos Sensation came to the ranch. The young colt would prove to not only change the Simons family but the industry as a whole. As of 2013, "Zippo" has dominated the APHA's performance industry in virtually every category. He has been the leading Breeder's Trust sire for 13 consecutive years. He is also the only Paint horse in the NSBA Hall of Fame as well as an equi-stat Million Dollar Sire. Words cannot explain how proud the Simons family is of their stallion.
